❄ A robust system will take a rather suppressed track through Texas tonight and Sunday with significant snowfall.
A short wave with its own supply of cold air will travel through Texas tonight and Sunday. This system will bring hefty snowfall totals from the Panhandle all the way to the Arklatex region. Accumulations should range between 4 to 10 inches with isolated higher amounts. Along the southern periphery of this storm, some icing issues will be likely adding an extra element of hazards. Icing should not be significant, but the saying, "A little icing goes a long way", applies.

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from Lubbock and Odessa to Waco and College Station. The major cities of Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Amarillo are aso affected, but should miss the brunt of this storm. Winter Storm Watches will likely be upgraded to Warning status soon for places like Longview and Tyler in east Texas later tonight. After a cold Sunday and Monday, temperatures moderate quickly, and all snowfall will melt by the afternoon hours on Tuesday. Embrace this if you are a snow lover, because events like these are rare for most places in the Lone Star State.
